Wrexham Golf Club was founded in 1906 and has been on its current site since 1924. It ‘lost’ several holes during the War to make way for a nearby airfield, but was restored to 18 holes under the design team of Fred Hawtree in 1952.
The course has a number of testing holes. You will want to pull out your best at the 7th – a demanding hole set in a curving valley with trees tight on the left and a bunker at the front of the green that has a very big appetite. Wrexham is host to many national and international golfing events, including the British Ladies’ Home Internationals in 2008.
